1. Albufeira’s Old Town
The Old Town is the best place to begin your Algarve vacation when you first get there. This charming maze of white-washed buildings, charming plazas and winding cobblestone pathways feels like a voyage back in time; you could catch a glimpse of the true Algarve.
The meandering cobblestone streets of this medieval city serve as a continual reminder of its rich cultural past. This charming old village is the perfect destination for anyone looking for a gorgeous setting with loads to do. It has existed for many centuries. Views of the coastline, colorful buildings, quaint cafes, and the well-known fish market are just a few of the many sights to behold. There are even old churches, museums and monuments located all across the city.
The ancient town’s architecture exudes charm, displaying traditional Portuguese design with its whitewashed homes and balconies in the baroque style.

2. Ponta da Piedade
One of the most recognizable and cherished lighthouses in the area is the Ponta da Piedade lighthouse.
The lighthouse, which is 83 feet tall, is proudly perched on a promontory that protrudes into the Atlantic Ocean close to Lagos. It is one of the oldest lighthouses in Portugal, having been constructed in 1797 at the behest of King John VI.
A breathtaking panoramic view of the unending sea and craggy cliffs can be seen from the inside of the tower. Its strong lamp can illuminate ten nautical miles at night, guiding seafarers securely. Locals take pleasure in walks along sheltered coves at low tide, romantic beaches and sunset vistas.
It is more than just a tool for navigating, it is a representation of power and Portuguese maritime heritage.

3. Marina of Vilamoura
Considered the beating heart of Vilamoura, this marina boasts over 1000 berths, making it one of the biggest in Europe. It offers a variety of waterside dining options and cafes, as well as a range of recreational opportunities, like sailing, fishing and diving.
Gorgeously designed gardens and verdant parks encircle the peaceful marina, providing breathtaking views throughout the day. Indulge in some retail therapy at one of the numerous upscale stores strewn throughout the marina, or visit one of the neighboring beaches.
Numerous recreational opportunities are available in the vicinity, such as golf courses, tennis courts and horseback riding establishments.

4. Falesia Beach
The golden dunes and pristine waters of the 6-kilometer coastline are breathtaking. The ochre, rust and orange rock formations that cover the surrounding cliffs offer a distinctive backdrop to the beach’s stunning splendor. Vacationers who want to unwind in a peaceful setting and enjoy first-rate amenities frequently visit Falesia.
Praia do Falésia is the ideal location for an extended stroll along the beach. Walking by the water’s edge and taking in the striking rock formations that define this beach is a delightful experience. You can walk in two directions: eastward to Praia do Barranco das Belharucas or westward to Praia da Rocha Baixinha.
It takes roughly two hours to walk the entire length of the beach from the east to the west of the sandy area. During low tide, you may witness some people gathering conquilhas- little clams.

5. Chapel of the Bones
One of the most well-known places in Faro is the Capela dos Ossos de Faro, also known as the Faro Bones Chapel. With its enormous windows creating a light-filled refuge, it may be one of the greatest structures made of human bones you’ll come across.
An insightful memento, found above the door, reads, “Stop here and think of the fate that will befall you – 1816.” It was left by the Carmelite monks who built the chapel in 1816 on the grounds of the larger church, which dates back to 1719.
The Carmo Church is striking in and of itself, especially the altars that are covered in gold. Both the inside and the outside of this magnificent 18th-century building are breathtaking.
Nonetheless, the main draw for travelers is the peculiar small chapel amidst the church’s gardens.
The Chapel of the Bones is adorned with human skeletons, as its name would imply. More than 1200 monks formerly resided in the long-gone Carmelite monastery where the bones and skulls on display are from.
Though many of the skulls have disappeared (or been stolen) over the years, the chapel remains incredibly lovely.

Visit the beautiful Algarve, rich in breathtaking locations and landscapes, with your family and friends, always relying on Faro Transfers, which offer outstanding and high quality taxi services, for incredible adventures and unforgettable memories!

1. Artistic corner
Take time to appreciate the bautiful arts! The Algarve is the perfect place to do this and it’s home to a number of art galleries and an expanding population of artists.
Situated in a beautifully renovated townhouse building in Loulé, Art Catto is an excellent gallery. Additionally, the gallery regularly hosts pop-up exhibitions at Conrad Algarve. LiR Gallery, housed within the operational Lagoa wine cooperative, offers an experience with urban art that is higher quality.
You should also visit Côrte-Real Gallery to uncover a hidden treasure trove of breathtaking artwork. This quaint gallery is off the usual path and has a really distinct atmosphere. Côrte Real is a bit of an adventure just to get to, as it is a long walk from the main path, but it’s definitely worth visiting!

2. Vila Real de Santo António
Welcome to Vila Real de Santo António, a quaint village tucked away on the Portuguese-Spanish border. Its classic 18th-century architecture, tree-lined squares and harbor full with floating boats are what give it its charming charm.
From the majestic Pombaline houses to the famous 19th-century obelisk that stands proudly in Marquês de Pombal Square, a visit here transports you back in time. At the cafes and restaurants along the shore, you may savor the regional food in addition to the rich history.
Discover the town’s many quaint shops and the lively daily market for a lovely shopping experience. Finally, enjoy views of Spain by strolling along the Guadiana River.

3. Silves Castle
Silves Castle, which dominated the landscape for kilometers around, was first constructed in the eighth century, during the Moors’ dominance over the Iberian Peninsula and then renovated in the thirteenth century.
The town was the hub of the Algarve back then, with boats transporting commodities between Portugal and North Africa, before the Arade River slowed down and cut off the town’s access to the sea.
These days, a tour of the massive castle and its lovely gardens will help you understand the prominence the town formerly held. Going with an informed guide will also reveal parts of the castle that you might not otherwise know about.
For additional information about the impact of the Romans, Visigoths and Moors, visit the adjacent archeological museum.

4. Algar Seco
Visiting the Algar Seco is yet another amazing wintertime activity in the Algarve! This network of caverns and fascinating rock formations, created over thousands of years by the unrelenting force of the Atlantic Ocean, features natural pools, sea caves and unusual photo opportunities.
The Boneca, a network of caverns and tunnels that provide breathtaking cliffside views, is not to be missed.

5. Hiking activities
The Seven Hanging Valleys Trail is one of the Algarve’s top winter hiking routes. Hiking along 6.8 miles of breathtaking blue water, dotted with secret caverns and quiet beaches, is an adventure of a lifetime.
The Fisherman’s Trail is another amazing route. This region spans more than 135 miles (220 kilometers) and is divided into 13 sections that can be completed on 4–14 days on the Costa Vincentina.
Try The Dunes of Almograve, a circular hike, for a shorter one-day experience. Some of the most breathtaking sections of the Fishermen’s Trail meet up with this picturesque trail, it’s truly amazing!

Enjoy the most beautiful winter adventures in Algarve with your family and friends, always counting on Algarve Transfers for high quality transfers and Algarve Car Hire for hassle free car rentals, for amazing experiences and astonishing memories!

Every summer for ten nights, Silves changes into a different town during the Silves Medieval Festival, particularly highly regarded by the locals as the area’s premier summertime event.
Visitors act out scenarios that could have happened hundreds of years ago when Silves was the Algarve Kingdom’s capital. You can see both Christian and Moorish practices on the castle’s grounds.
Families watch as jugglers, acrobats, veiled dancers, snake charmers, and noblemen and ladies parade in their finest dress. There are several places to eat and drink that serve regional food, you definitely cannot miss it!

3. Portimão – 5-7 July |
In Portimo’s Praia da Rocha, the biggest hip-hop festival in the world will also take place. The Rolling Loud, which made waves in the US, is making a second trip to Europe and promises to feature huge names in hip-hop and the trap subgenre. The best option is to reserve a vacation apartment because the festival does not offer a camping area. Discover this special festival while in Algarve!

Enjoy the most beautiful holiday and adventure in Algarve, with your family and friends, always counting on Faro Airport Transfers!

Knights and kings and queens and the music of troubadours from lutes filling the cobblestone streets: will you be there for The Silves Medieval Fair?

If it’s August, we are getting ready to celebrate an awesome event in the Algarve: this year’s edition of the Silves Medieval Festival, which has been scheduled to take place between the 9th and 18th of August.

For years, the incredibly romantic and beautiful town of Silves has welcomed guests from all over the world eager to turn back time and return to the glorious and rose scented years of troubadours and medieval tales of arms and courtly love.

Fun fact: Silves actually used to be the capital city of the Algarve during the Arab occupation. Those were really exciting times for the town and marked its glory days. So to mark those golden ages, the municipality figured it would be nice to create a festival to recreate those times and give everyone a good time as well as a sense of what life during those days would have been like.

Feira Medieval Silves

To give you an idea of what is in store for the nine days of fair, think of the following: there will be jousting tournaments, contests of costumes as well as processions of medieval characters ready to exhibit their attire and describe their personas, artisans and masters ready to sell their craft, but above all, there will be a “live” history lesson to be shared by all and entertaining to learn by all people young or old.

Plus Silves is a great place to visit. With its antique architectural style, cobblestone winding narrow alleys and streets and the dramatic old town center, this is truly a fairytale place.

So what’s the best way to get there? You can rent a car in Faro Airport or opt for an private driver to take you by car with Algarve airport transfer to Silves.

Of course you want to find the best gift for Lovers Day, but somehow there is always something urgent to do and you’ve procrastinated, or the ideal present was just too much above your price range. Instead, today we get to discuss last minute vacation deals on Valentine’s Day.

First of all, you need to choose a destination. While the most popular tourist destinations include Venice and Paris, there are other destinations well worth exploring, just as romantic, but at the same time less populated with desperate tourists. After all, romance is all about intimacy and how can you expect to get that from a place that gives you no privacy.

Romantic as they may seem, some hyped destinations are quite crowded. A good alternative suggestion in Europe is Portugal. It is very romantic, with its old cities and beautiful seaside.

Benefiting from beautiful weather, it is virtually an all-year destination. It is also a quite accessible one, prices being somewhat lower than in other tourist countries.
With a bit of online research, you can find your perfect deal in the Algarve. Going to the sea is one of the most romantic gifts you can give your loved one. Even though a swim might not necessarily enter the equation in February, you will like the feel of the beautiful southern part of Portugal anyway.

Portugal is a vastly underrated romantic destination. But it has it all to qualify as a perfect place to spend Valentine’s Day with your loved one. The people are welcoming and friendly, making you feel at home wherever you go, the food is tasty and the culture and architecture are outstanding.

There are many flights to the International Airport of Faro and from there, you can get a Faro airport transfer to take you where you want to go in the city and its surroundings. But what you can do for a last-minute deal is book a Lagos car hire for a very good rate.
